| Profinet Device Architecture |

A Profinet IO device consists of slots with slot 0 being a virtual slot containing Identity Device data. All other slots contain modules of various types. A module can be an Analog Input module, a discrete output module or any other module you define. Each module contains alarm and diagnostic data which are accessed over Profinet IO using NRT (Non Real Time) protocol access mechanisms. Each module consists of some number of I/O points also called channels. Channels are accessed by an IO Controller using RT (Real Time) protocol access mechanisms.
The Profinet IO Engineers at RTA specialize in assisting customers to not only integrate Profinet IO software into their application but more importantly how to architect the Profinet IO Slot/Module/Channel structure. With the RTA API the software easily integrates into your application.
