The Problem: The need for a network enabled valve.

Real Time Automation, Inc. worked with a company who found themselves challenged by their current situation. The company was a valve manufacturer who found themselves in need of some type of network to help control their valves. The company decided they needed the ability to remotely monitor and operate their valves. Since their valves are used in ships, oil refineries, water treatment plants, and many other process industries, they were finding it too costly and inconvenient for their clients to use a valves that are manually operated - requiring someone there to monitor and operate the valves at all times. This company needed to produce a network enabled valve to meet its customers’ needs, but were unable to do so on there own. This is where Real Time Automation came in.

The Solution: A Highly Tailored AS-Interface from Real Time Automation, Inc.

The company presented their problem to Real Time Automation engineers who were able to get right to work on the project. With their expert skill and experience, RTA engineers pointed the company in the direction of using the AS-Interface, and were able to design a PCB that could fit right into the company’s valves. RTA then developed an AS-Interface data representation that would enable their valves to be monitored and operated remotely while still remaining simple to use and easy to understand by the company’s customers. With 2 inputs and 2 outputs, the As-Interface board was able to open, close, and monitor 2 valves at a time, more than fulfilling the valve company’s requirements. Finally, RTA went one step further and assisted the company to develop the documentation, marketing support materials, and the expertise to sell their AS-Interface into many other industrial applications.
